We set off this morning at unfeasibly early O’Clock (Campbell’s ex army thing me thinks) and we made it for a full twelve yards before we got lost. Bristol is no place for the weak hearted and after climbing for approximately six thousand miles we find our way out of the metropolis. Thankfully, the Chav's, who had been pointing at us on our way in to the city, were still in bed at this time so we didn’t have to put up with any more words of encouragement.
They say that preparation is everything and this ride has been a huge exception. Andy’s tyres (Clearly worn away by months of hard training in the hills - not) finally gave way and a new form of rapid roadside puncture repair initiative began (nice to see the team working together on this one).
Roger’s gears were white hot at this point and the big ring , on his rear cassette, which has approximate 223 teeth, was mistaken for a third wheel by Campbell (a theory that was later confirmed by the fact that he was wearing no helmet – which we believe is legal on a Trike).
Anyway, I am struggling to find anything interesting to say as this route (Chosen by Andy – this route has no hills – Spence) was remarkably unremarkable. Jim added: Roger beat Carl up a steep climb in the Cotswold's, Carl is making excuses about red or green aspects at the lights at the bottom of the hill - the rest of the team are excited to see what happens tomorrow as both Carl and Roger have retired to bed early tonight, the pressure is on me thinks.
Andy has also discovered a new way to compensate for this unexpected exertion by relaxing on the grassy knoll. (See photo)Today’s stats:
